The Turag & Posur River

The Turag river is an important river of Bangladesh.It originates from the Bangshi river.The Bangshi river is an important trubutary of the Dhaleswari river flows through Gazipur and joins the Buriganga river at Mirpur in Dhaka district.The length of this river is 71km,the width is 218m and the depth is 13.50m.The Turag river is abundant with fishes but suffers from acute water pollution because majority of industry has made little effort to follow environment law and the water has become visibly discolored.The Bishwa Istima is situated by the Turag river in Tongi and attracts estimates of between 2 to 4 millions Muslims annually and representatives from over sixty countries ,making it the 2nd biggest Islamic congregation after the Hajj.

The posur River is a river tributary of Ganges.It is situated in south-western of Bangladesh.The length of this river is 51km,the width is 850m and the depth is 18m.
