The Ichamati river is a trans-boundary river which flows  through India and Bangladesh. The Ichamati river has now three parts. The longer part flows from the Mathavanga river ,a tributary of the Padma river. After flowing for 208km ,it joins the Kalindi river near Hasnabad in North 24 Parganas and Debhata in Sathkhira district. The length of this river is 56.60km,the width is 40m and the depth is 6.50m.By the way,the river also faces some problems such as Industrial pollution and forcible occupation of land by people.Without this lack of sanitation facilities ,encroachment ,groundwater contamination like arsenic pollution ,destruction of aquatic flora, fauna are reason of  river water pollution. This problems should be tackled through participatory mechanism. The river also facing the thin flow of water in the dry season and in rainy season, the river is full with water and floods are occured which immerges the nearest area of the river.
