The Baral River

The Baral river is one of the offshoots of the Ganges. It originates at Charghat Upazila or Rajshahi district of Bangladesh. The Baral river  flows through the Natore as well as the Pabna district. It  meets with the Gumani at the East of Bangura and finally meets with the Hurasagar after joining with the Karatoya river south of Shahjadpur. The length of this river is 124km,the width is 120m and the depth is 9.50m.Only in the rainy season, the river receives water from Ganges but it maintains its flow throughout the year with local runoff water and water from Chalan Beel. There is a Bridge on the Baral river which is located at Bhangura Upazila.A 3.41km long closure dam was constructed across the Baral river in 1965-1966.There are some important places which are located on the bank of the Baral river. They are Charghat, Baraigram, Bagatipara, Gurudaspur, Bhangura, Bera and Chatmohor etc. So,these places are attractive or beautiful for Baral river.
